Christmas 2005 Letter to All

well, for a test, here's my 2005 Xmas letter:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

We hoped 2005 would be more restful than 2004, but rest is a pipedream
with Evan the “busy body” baby (now toddler) in the house.

The year began with lots of transition. In January Evan started daycare and Tara stepped up her structural engineering consulting work. Soon Tara was working four days a week in two offices part time. In order to accommodate the new work schedule (and to get Sean out of the office), Sean “retired” from ANWest and now is Evan’s primary caretaker. Evan could not be happier to have his favorite person at home.

In April Sarita and Scott Imahara were married in Seattle. It was a wonderful celebration and great to see family and friends who we have not seen in a while. Fabulous!

In June Tara accepted a full time job as a project engineer at Framework Engineering, a structural engineering firm, in San Anselmo, CA. The job is in Tara’s words “a dream”. The company is three people and growing; it has a beautiful office, ideal location, and a great atmosphere. Her commute is 15 minutes, so Sean and Evan come often for lunch.

We spent Thanksgiving in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with Tara’s parents and Sean’s Brother, Christopher and his fiancé Alison. Christopher has finished his PhD in Physics; they are both moving to Australia in January where Chris will be starting a two year post-doc. We are very excited about Alison and can’t wait till November for the wedding celebration.

Evan is 17 months now and into everything. He is walking and on his way to running. He can say “dada”, the occasional “mama”, “baba” for ball or bottle, “See-air”(See there) and many others yet to be deciphered words and phrases. He is a good eater and often out eats his parents. His dad takes him on great adventures to parks and signed up him for a tumbling class which is a much needed energy releaser. Sean is enjoying being with Evan and getting a chance to bond with his son.

Sean has taken up painting and is using acrylics. He gets some painting done when Evan naps, or when Tara is kind enough to give him a break. Painting is a nice quick and quite activity that Sean can make some progress in just a few minutes.

All in all we are doing great and could not be happier. We are spending Christmas in Carmel with Sean’s parents.

Peace and Love,

Sean
Tara
& Evan
